Milestones
Our efforts to educate and inform others about the Comfort 590 (Lennar Project) continue; below is a summary of milestones accomplished to date.
-
UPDATE: Comfort Neighbors, a grassroots group established to investigate a wastewater permit requested by Lennar, received a wonderful end-of-year result: The Comfort Lennar Project TPDES application (WQ0016644001) has been withdrawn, and the matter is officially closed. We attribute Lennar’s withdrawal to their realization that this was not a fit for them. Our strategy has always been to bring facts – all the facts -- to bear early in the process, often and in many forms with the hope our due diligence would prevail. And it did. Even with this win, it remains essential to ensure the ongoing protection of Comfort. This includes safeguarding natural resources such as water, creeks, and rivers, as well as implementing effective flood mitigation measures. It is also important to preserve the rural character of the community.
